In November of 2018 the second Fantastic Beasts movie will be released, Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald. Of course this means that LEGO is launching brand new set based on the Harry Potter movies with the first couple of which will be hitting stores on August 1st.

This is a very impressive new 878 piece Hogwarts Great Hall building set that will excite any Harry Potter fans. It has tons of great features and should be fun to build as well as great to play with. This reproduction of the Great Hall will be 4 levels and will stands around 14” high, 6” wide and 11”deep.

Though scheduled for release a few months before the new Fantastic Beast movie, this set is actually based on the Harry Potter series and this is reflected in the 10 mini-figures that come with the set.

As for the mini-figures, we can see that the child characters have been reworked to have shorter legs which reflect their smaller size. The wands are more realistic looking and the new printing and hairstyles for Harry and Hermione look great as well. The whole set comes with a lot of new features and details.

The five students all dressed in their Hogwarts uniforms include; Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, Hermione Granger, Draco Malfoy, and new for LEGO, Susan Bones.

We then have other important Hogwarts characters including Professor McGonagall, Professor Quirrell, (complete with spinning dual Lord Voldemort face!) Naturally,  Albus Dumbledore and with Nearly Headless Nick, another LEGO first. Happily also included is a brand new Hagrid Figure that holds a pink umbrella and lantern.

In this set are also favorite animals and mythical creatures from the movie. You will find Dumbledore’s companion and defender, Fakwes the phoenix. You can recreate the famous fight between him and the Basilisk snake which is also included in this set. Hogwarts would not be complete without Harry’s owl, Hedwig and Ron Weasley’s pet rat, Scabbers.

The Hogwarts building is comprised of two parts the great hall and the main tower complete with the iconic moveable grand staircase,  the potions room and a treasure room. In the turret is the Mirror of Erised which comes with various pictures and also a spot for Fawkes to roost.

The Great Hall has tons of accessories, features and detail. Food items, reversible house banners, a fireplace, floating candles, tables and chairs, a trophy cup, teapot and of course, the famous Sorting Hat.

Included for additional detail are lots of other accessories and stickers like extra wands, magic brooms and a spider.

This Hogwarts set is full of detail and it is obviously a necessity for real Harry Potter fans. LEGO plans on expanding the line of Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts Sets. This one along with Grindelwald’s Escape will make their debut first.
