Infinity War Hero Vision Iron Man AR Experience

Unlike virtual reality (VR) which immerses a person in a completely computer generated environment, augmented reality (AR) is the real world, only enhanced. Earlier this year, popular toy giant Hasbro, announced Iron Man as their first Augmented Reality toy at the New York Toy Fair .

Of course, as Iron Man is a solid favorite with the kids and because of Tony Starks Hi-tech background, it makes sense for him to be the first superhero release in their Marvel Hero Vision range of AR products.

Included in the Infinity War Hero Vision Iron Man AR set are an Iron Man Mask, AR goggles, Iron Man Gauntlet, Three AR markers, Infinity Stone, and full instructions. You need a free app to use it which can be easily downloaded to your Android or Ios smartphone.

The majority of  recent smartphones are able to run the app, as long as they are using Android 5 or iOS 6 or higher. The app is comparable to Snapchat’s type of Augmented Reality in which objects are put around a room.

The phone goes inside the goggles that go inside of the Iron Man mask. One issue that we have heard mentioned is that if you have one of the larger sized iPhone or larger Android it might not fit inside of the mask.

The AR is accessed through your phone so an Internet connection or Bluetooth isn’t needed to play with the toy.

The set up is easy, once you have downloaded the launch app you place the three plate-sized AR Markers anywhere in the room. You put on the Iron Man Gauntlet, Slide the phone into the goggles and put on your Iron Man mask and you are ready to go. The gameplay is very simple and this is really designed for young players.

When the digital overlay appears you will need to protect the 3 markers from evil Thanos and his dastardly minions. This is done by using the gauntlet to fire upon the intruders by aiming your gauntlet palm up at the enemy. You can block their attacks by turning the gauntlet face down.

After 3 of the 10 levels of play, the phone will need to be removed from the goggles in order to upgrade Iron Man’s Armor. This forced break was apparently an intentionally added by Hasbro so that kids aren’t staring at a screen for hours at a time.

Hasbro promises hours of gameplay and assures us that there will be more Infinity tokens coming out in the future that are going to be compatible with this Marvel Hero Iron Man set.

Conclusion

Games are without a doubt becoming more advanced. AR technology has not been around long but without a doubt it is the sign of things to come when these sorts of games will be not only common but much improved. This one offers basic gameplay and also requires the use of a smartphone which not every parent will be in favor of supplying. If the phone is not an issue, this is a reasonably priced game that will provide hours of entertainment for any young Iron Man fans.
