Hot Wheels Augmoto Augmented Reality Racing Track

Hot Wheels toys have been around since I was a kid. They were cool then and they are even cooler now. My little brother and I collected a ton of Hot Wheels stuff, along with various racing tracks. I absolutely loved watching my brightly painted race cars as they zoomed up and down the speed way. Yes, those were fun times, lots of toy car collisions, explosions and slow-mo.

Never one to stop innovating, Mattel is coming out with a new “toy” called “Hot Wheels Augmoto Augmented Reality Racing Track,” Kids will be able to go deep into their imagination and see what their Hot Wheels look like. Of course, taking us all back to our childhood, we will once again, see a whole lot of explosions and collisions.

Mattel just recently celebrated Hot Wheels’ 50th anniversary. Wow,it’s hard to believe Hot Wheels has been around for 50 whole years already. Along with offering new interconnected Rocket League-themed and Hot Wheels City arena, they are also offering Augmoto, an AR racing track.

Playing with the Hot Wheels Augmoto Augmented Reality Racing Track

Kids are going to have a blast playing with this “toy.” Two players can use iPads that are connected via Bluetooth in order to control the cars actions. At the time of writing this review, I’m not sure whether or not an Android tablet can be used, but I do know an iPad can be used. This is not your daddy’s Hot Wheels track!

Each car will need to complete 30 laps, but you will need to keep in mind that the car will have a limited amount of charge, so you will need to decide how long and when to fuel up and make pit stops, or when to shoot your weapon at your opponent. Shooting a weapon at your opponent will slow them down.

Augmoto’s Cars Move Automatically

Augmoto’s cars do move on their own, but you will still need to keep a close eye on the AR interface. As the power levels drop, so will your speed. Also, what I really like about this “toy” is that you have to make frequent pit stops just like in real racing. Along with all of that, you will also be the one to decide when to go for a loop. You may have some accidents before you get the hang of it.

Conclusion

Kids (and even adults) are going to get hours of fun out of this race track making it well worth the purchase.
